User account

You may ask for a user account at CC-IN2P3 if:

  • you are administratively affiliated to an IN2P3 research structure,

  • you work in collaboration with IN2P3 or research entities using CC-IN2P3 services and resources,

  • your applications/infrastructures are hosted by CC-IN2P3.

Request an account

To create your CC-IN2P3 user account, please follow the procedure below:

  1. read the Charters for the use of resources (the account creation or submission of a creation request implies acceptance of the charters),

  2. go to the Identity Management Portal and select the [Sign up] button,

  3. fill in the required information (using eduGAIN will make this task easier) and follow the instructions you’ll receive by email.

  4. to complete the account creation process, please fill out the form that will be provided.

Important

The email address entered in step 3. becomes your reference email address. It will be used for all communications with CC-IN2P3: announcements, direct contacts, expiration notifications, etc.

The account login will be limited to 12 characters. It will be formed as follows:

<1st letter of First name> + <first 11 letters of Last name>

Once the account has been created, an access with the same identifier is provisioned on our Helpdesk.

Research structure selection

In step 4., you are asked to select your research structure (RS) from a drop-down menu.

  • If your RS is associated with an administrative collaboration, your account creation will be subject to validation by the relevant collaboration contact. The account will therefore be active only after their validation.

  • If, on the other hand, you cannot find your RS in the menu or it is not associated with a registered collaboration, you will have created an account that is not linked to any collaboration. This account will therefore not have access to the interactive servers, not to the computing or storage resources. If you need these resources, please request a collaboration membership.

Attention

A user may become member of only one administrative collaboration. This membership cannot be requested, but is automatically assigned once the research structure is selected upon account creation or modification.

Computing account

If a user account is member of a collaboration, be it administrative or scientific, authorized to use CC-IN2P3 resources following a resource request, the account will have access to the interactive servers and may use their collaboration’s resources through the associated computing group. To highlight this authorization, the account will be referred to as computing account.

Note

To achieve this status (and thus gain access to interactive servers as well as ref:computing <computing-introduction> and storage resources), a user must be a member of an authorized collaboration. If they are not already part of one through their research structure, they must submit a request.
