SOFT: software available at Computing Center



The users of the Computing Center have the possibility to use a whole bunch of software, commercial or not, installed and managed by us. These list is non exhaustive. The Computer Center is ready to discuss with you about your needs. Than, contact the user support team in this case.

Customizing your computing environment

To access these tools, it is necessary to modify your computing environment. To load environment variables, allowing you to take advantage of these applications and libraries, you must use the ccenv script as follows.

The “ccenv –list” command shows you the available software.

$ ccenv --list
Software:

Using the name of a listed software, the “ccenv –list [soft name]” command will give you the available versions. Eg. :

$ ccenv --list gcc
Software:

    - 5.2.0
    - 5.3.0
    - 7.3.0
$ ccenv --list Nag_C
Software:
  Version:
    Nag_C:

Load the environment

On the interactive platform cca.in2p3.fr

The software proposed by the CC-IN2P3, apart from those distributed by the OS, are not loaded by default. The command “ccenv [soft_name]“ allows you to access the desired software. Eg. :

$ ccenv python
$

To use a specific version, use “ccenv [soft_name] [version]“. Eg. :

$ ccenv pgi 16.7
$

If multiple versions are available, the most recent version is usually loaded by the “ccenv [soft_name]“ command.

ccenv does not handle software compatibilities

ccenv provide an easy way to set up software environments. It however does not handle possible software incompatibilities. The default environment will be the one of a fresh GNU/Linux installation, i.e. minimalist, therefore ccenv will help you to setup required software environments. For softwares with dependancies, they should be handled automatically when setting up that software (in order to have a proper working environment). One should be careful however to not overload the environment (by instance by loading two versions of the same softwares).

In batch jobs

For technical reason, “ccenv [soft_name] [version]” does not work in batch jobs.

To do the same, replace “ccenv [soft_name] [version]” by “source /pbs/software/centos-7-x86_64/<soft_name>/ccenv.(c)sh <version>“

NAG C and Fortran librairies

  • Fonctionality: scientifique librairies for C et Fortran languages.
  • Number of licences: site licence.

NAG libraries installed at CCIN2P3: NAG C & Fortran

NAG F95 compiler

  • Fonctionality: NAG Fortran 95 compiler.
  • Number of licences: 10.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

Intel compiler

  • Fonctionality: C, C++ and Fortran compilers with MKL (Math Kernel Library) librairy.
  • Number of licences: 5.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

PGI compiler (Portland group)

  • Fonctionality: C, C++, Fortran77 (F77), Fortran90 (F90) and High Performance Fortran (HPF) compilers.
  • Number of licences: 5.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

IDL

  • Fonctionality: data analysis software.
  • Number of licences: 23.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on all OS of Computing Center.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

Insure++

  • Fonctionality: C++ software development tool.
  • Number of licences: 2.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.

LabView (NEW)

  • Fonctionality: graphical programming software for electronics measurment systems, data acquisition and data analysis.
  • Number of licences: 450.
  • Remarques:
    • For IN2P3 laboratories and staffs.
    • Available for windows, mac OS and linux

Maple

  • Fonctionality: formal calculation software.
  • Number of licences: 5.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on all OS of Computing Center.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers..

Mathematica

  • Fonctionality: formal calculation software.
  • Mathematica is no more available at Computing Center : licensing is no more network type but local. You should ask your laboratory which can buy a license or ask to the university.

Matlab

  • Fonctionality: calculation software.
  • Number of licences: 268.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on all OS of Computing Center.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

Rational Rose

  • Fonctionality: C++ software development tool.
  • Number of licences:
    • 5 for linux.
    • 3 for windows.
  • Remarques:
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

Sniff+

  • Fonctionality: C, C++, Java and Fortran software development tool.
  • Number of licences: 4.
  • Remarques:
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

Together

  • Fonctionality: software development tool.
  • Number of licences: 3.
  • Remarques:
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

TotalView

  • Fonctionality: C++ and debugging tool.
  • Number of licences: 4.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.

Silvaco

  • Fonctionality: Software for silicon detector simulation.
  • Number of licences: 10.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.
    • Available for IN2P3 laboratory computers.
  Fonctionality: Anaconda is a package management and deployment distribution of Python and R programming languages for large-scale data processing, predictive analytics, and scientific computing.

  • Fonctionality: whole of librairies and softwares for HEP data analysis.
  • Remarques:

    • The cernlib contains paw, paw++ and geant3 softwares.

CLHEP

  • Fonctionality: whole of C++ librairies and classes for HEP data analysis.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on all OS of Computing Center.
    • The version can be different with the OS.

Garfield

  • Fonctionality: HEP gaz detectors simulation librairy.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on all OS of Computing Center.

GEANT 4

  • Fonctionalité: logiciel de simulation de détecteurs OO pour HEP.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.

ROOT

  • Fonctionality: HEP data OO analysis software.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on all OS of Computing Center.

AIDA

  • Fonctionality: tool for analysis used with Geant4.

Gate

  • Fonctionality: biology detectors simulation OO software.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on Linux.

GNU g95 Fortran compiler

  • Fonctionality: GNU Fortran 95 compiler.
  • Remarques:
    • Installed on linux.

GLoBES

  • Fonctionality: Global Long Baseline Experiment Simulator.

GSL (GNU Scientific Library)

  • Fonctionality: GNU scientific librairy.

  • Fonctionality: Mono is a free implementation of the Microsoft development framework .NET. A C# compiler (version 2.0) is available.
